Kaleidoscopes

Kaleidoscopes

Did you ever have a kaleidoscope? I absolutely love them...to me, they're like beautiful magic in motion. Then this came to me - People are like kaleidoscopes... you think you see one picture, but with one little turn, the whole picture changes...

We tend to think we know who we are and what we're like, yet in my life journeys it has been clear to me that with a little exploration we can find a new way of viewing that totally changes our perspective.. of ourselves, of others, of life. New insights gained...new pictures formed...my mind has been blown so many times that I have finally committed to sharing my maps and that's why I have coaching sessions now.

The literal translation of kaleidoscope is "observer of beautiful forms" and I love this...because it speaks not only of the capacity for each individual to create something beautiful of themselves, of their lives, but it also references the observer.

In ancient spiritual texts and teachings, certainly from the yogic tradition, there is a pointing to our true, core self - sometimes referred to as the witness. We are told there is a timeless, untouchable, not living nor dying pure essence within ourselves that observes everything. It's almost like the great deep sea...silent and barely moving but very much alive...lying beneath the great storms and waves creating all kinds of commotion at surface level.
Meditation practices encourage us to sit long enough to experience that big deep...allow the constant barrage of noise and stimulation coming from our thoughts and feelings to pass by without attaching to them and quietly sink down into the silence and merely observe them. The peace and power that comes from communing with our spirit in this way is undeniably worthwhile...and well documented, so I'll leave this here and return to my original premise for now.

Patterns and pictures. The very nature of coaching is that it is a proactive approach. In sessions we explore the client's stories...the pictures and patterns that they may have come to see as set and causing them to feel some type of way about that...stuck, powerless, depressed, frustrated, worthless..to name a few. What we're about in the sessions is exploring and uncovering what beliefs and experiences hold these patterns and emotions in place - so we can dislodge and realign them with my client's true nature and purpose.

By doing this, a whole new picture can emerge...one more beautiful and exquisite...a vision of themselves they can really get behind and the clarity of mind and heart to actually reach for it. A true reflection of the person they came here to be.
It's heart work, it's soul work and it's awe inspiring to be a part of...some might even call it magic

✨

Talking of magic, interestingly, it is a collection of tiny mirrors that create the ever changing patterns of a kaleidoscope. This information opens up a whole other area for discussion, too involved to post now, but suffice to say if you have undertaken any personal development work that talks about others being mirrors, you'll get a sense of where I'd be going with that.
